Diohandi (1945 - )
Acrylic on wood 250 X 650 cm
This work was designed especially for the Intercontinental (-1 Lobby) and harmonizes with it both architecturally and conceptually, transforming its surroundings and highlighting its special atmosphere. Its tonal variations and its perfectly controlled forms create in the viewer a sensation of perspective and freedom.
George Lappas (1950-2016)
Metal, plastic, neon lights 250 x 400 x 500 cm
Athenaeum InterContinental welcomes its guests and visitors with an enormous blue sculpture by one of Greece’s best loved contemporary artists. George Lappas created this work placing man firmly at the center, outsized and expressive of a malleable balance and movement at the same time. Changes in scale have been a key feature in the artist’s work, who, in this case, transforms the bright blue moving figure into a new architectural force, interacting with and rearranging the surrounding space.
